Renewable energy in Podlaskie: opportunities for farmers and businesses

Although our solar farms operate in the Lublin Region, Liwstar is based in Białystok. We therefore know the Podlaskie region and its still underused renewable energy potential very well.

The region's potential

Podlaskie has extensive lower-grade agricultural land that may be suitable for photovoltaics. Solar conditions can support profitable projects, while grid investment and local renewable-energy plans continue to develop.

Landowners as renewable-energy partners

A landowner may lease or sell a suitable site to a developer, or become an investor and sell electricity through an auction or PPA. Leasing is simpler; direct investment requires more work and capital but may offer greater returns.

Before signing a lease

Review the term, rent indexation, termination provisions, restoration obligations and subletting rights. A lawyer experienced in energy projects should assess any long-term agreement.

Regional challenges

Grid density can be a constraint in parts of north-eastern Poland. Natura 2000 sites and other protected areas also require careful environmental analysis. These factors do not rule out a project, but they may affect timing and design.

Outlook

EU-backed grid modernisation, energy communities and local energy cooperatives can create new options for municipalities and businesses. The region has a credible path toward greater energy independence.
